Giving Gifts to Families in Sutton this Christmas
Every Christmas, the giving of gifts to one another forms part of a long-held tradition of generosity that helps to celebrate the real meaning of the Christmas season. But for many families, the pressures of finance and their own personal hardship, means that some children will not receive many gifts, or one at all.
Every year, Sutton Salvation Army helps to ensure that families most in need of support, are able to give gifts to their children, through our annual Christmas Gift Appeal.
Partnering with Sutton’s Children’s services, local schools and organisations, combined with your generous gift-giving, we are able to support families in need of support, enabling them to have gifts to give their children.
3 Ways to Give this Christmas
1. Take a yellow tag from our giving tree and buy a gift for a child.
Children and families in our community in need of support have told us what they would most like this Christmas, and each tag enables you to help meet that request.
The tags give you a specific guide of a gift for each child. We recommend spending up to a maximum value of £20 per tag, as well as providing a roll of wrapping paper. This enables parents and carers to wrap the gifts themselves before giving them to the children.
These gifts can be brought back to our building before or on November 30th, when we will have a special service at church to bring our gifts.
2. Buy a specific gift online from our Amazon Wishlists
We have created wishlist for specific, age-appropriate gifts that we have learnt are most needed and helpful to families in need of support in our community. Simply choose and buy a gift from this online list for delivery to our building and we’ll make sure it gets to children who need it, this Christmas.

3. Donate money for food and beverage support for families throughout the year.
Every year we help hundreds of families with basic needs like supermarket supplies and helping them access support services, often over a cup of coffee or tea in our Coffee House. Making a donation to this community fund will enable us to support in a variety of ways including buying supermarket vouchers when needed and providing hot drinks for families, in our Coffee House.
